Zoe wins top cycling prize
Zoe Wood has won a Jet2 break by cycling to work, thanks to the Love to Ride CityConnect cycling challenge.
Zoe, who works in the Estates Department of Dewsbury and District Hospital for The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, won the holiday in a prize draw after taking part in the challenge, which began with her commuting to work by bike on Cycle to Work Day.
“Taking part in Cycle to Work Day seemed like a great opportunity for me to get into cycling,” she said, “and the fact that I was able to then log the miles I cycle on the Love to Ride website and be in with a chance of winning a prize was a bonus. I still can’t believe I won!”
The Cycle to Work Day at the Trust was organised and promoted by her colleague and keen cyclist Diane Firth. “It’s fabulous news. I’m really pleased for Zoe,” commented Diane, who is keen to get more people at the Trust experiencing the many benefits cycling has to offer.
The CityConnect Cycling Project is currently delivering a number of cycling infrastructure improvements across West Yorkshire, giving more people access to safer routes, enabling them to make sustainable travel choices for everyday journeys.

“The Love to Ride platform is all about encouraging others to try cycling,” said Dom Jacques, Challenge Manager at Love to Ride in West Yorkshire. “Zoe is a perfect example of how, with a bit of encouragement, people can rediscover cycling and start to experience first-hand the significant benefits to health, wealth and the local environment.”
Local airline Jet2, who now offer cycling holidays, kindly donated the prize.
