Family cycling: Learn to ride

We’ve teamed-up with Bradford-based cycling coach Emily Groves, who has a wealth of experience in teaching children to ride a bike, on a series of videos aimed at helping you and your family enjoy cycling together.

Learning to ride a bike for the first time is what happy memories are made of.  Not sure where to start with teaching a little one?

In this section we run through some of the basics, including fitting a helmet.  A balance bike, which doesn’t have any pedals, is the best way for children to learn so we’ll also cover how to remove the pedals on a standard bike.

It might sound like an obvious one but different people learn at a different pace.  Teaching your child to ride a bike can take anything from a few hours to a few days or even a few weeks.
