Community walking and cycling hubs.

The funding application window is now closed and will re-open in 2025.

The grant application process

Every year, we offer grants of up to £50,000 to support organisations across West Yorkshire to join our expanding network of places helping people in the community make more journeys on foot and by bike.

Community walking and cycling hubs are welcoming “one-stop-shops” that cater for people’s walking, cycling, scooting and wheeling (using a wheelchair or mobility aid) needs.

This funding is open to social enterprises, registered charities, community interest companies, local authorities, and private limited companies registered in the UK.

A track record of delivering active travel engagement work is not essential. To be eligible for our funding, it is enough that you and your organisation are committed to developing active travel participation in your area.

We would welcome applications from two or more organisations working collaboratively, and this may include a local authority.

Grant applications are currently closed, but if you would like support with preparing to apply for 2025, please contact us at cityconnect@westyorks-ca.gov.uk

What are walking and cycling hubs?

We’re funding 13 organisations across the region a total of more than £640,000 to support more people in their communities to walk and cycle.

Each group has received up to £50,000 to become a community walking and cycling hub.

These hubs will be “one-stop-shops” for people to access everything they need to walk and cycle, including advice and support on routes, equipment, training and group activities.

Where’s my nearest hub?
